Dillard Family | Portraits

Finally, a moment to catch my breath. I know this weekend for many was one of celebrating with family and friends. I hope you all enjoyed celebrating Independence Day! This next week is going to be a whirlwind for me and I didn’t want it to go any longer without me sharing more images from the Dillard family shoot! I know many of you have been waiting anxiously to see more from this sweet family’s photo shoot.

It was a perfect weekend down in Kansas shooting a wedding (which I can’t wait to share THAT with you all too!) Being so close to Arkansas we were able to make a quick stop to spend time with Jill, Derick and baby Israel. We trekked our way through Arkansas to find the perfect spot for these photos. I wanted something reminiscent of their wedding, but with a twist of something new for their portraits. We went to three different locations to capture these images. It was a full evening of shooting topped off delicious Indian cuisine! I wish them the best on their new adventure in life as they serve overseas.

Cate Wedding | Lawrence, KS | Preview

I don’t think anything could describe this image more perfectly than one of my favorite quotes from Anne of Green Gables. This lovely couple stole my breathe as the gorgeous Kansas sky was set on fire by the setting sun. So many stunning images keep sidetracking me and I had to share this with you all. Now, back to editing…where is my coffee???

Dillard | One Year Preview

I am so excited I couldn’t wait to release these to you all! I’ve been editing my little heart out since last night. We really could not have asked for a more picturesque location in Arkansas for this sweet couple.

Well, I am off to do more editing from this shoot and the three others that took place over the weekend. I will most likely be found chained to my desk with an IV of coffee keeping me awake.

Dillard One Year Anniversary

Prom 2015 |Valparaiso, IN

We can dance until we die

You make me feel like I’m living a teenage dream

I had an absolute incredible time shooting this year’s prom pictures for a gorgeous group of young people ready to get their dance on! The day couldn’t have been more perfect for taking pictures outside in the warm, spring air. We have recently had a cold front in and so the fact that we were outside in the warmth of the sun was a big deal (: I hope that this Monday find you all enjoying the fresh start to a brand new week! Hopefully these brightened your day and added that little piece of magic to it.

Ben and Jessa Pt. II | Ceremony

The bridal march begins and all eyes turn to the doors opening as the bride is escorted down the aisle. Yes, my eyes are on it as well, but I love looking at the groom in that moment. His face as he sees his bride coming towards him, it’s just priceless. That immediate reaction is sometimes for just a split second; I always try to capture that moment, freeze it in time for the couple to look back and cherish. Ben’s face as he saw Jessa coming down that aisle was so sweet, you could see the love and adoration he had for her in his eyes that were tearing up.

Another favorite part of the ceremony was something that was so special. Ben had kept the wedding band a surprise for his bride and she did not see it till it was being placed on her hand. Jessa let out a small gasp and muttered the words “it’s perfect” as it was placed on her finger. Her reaction to the band was again, a priceless moment that I am so glad I was able to capture for them.

Ben and Jessa Sewald | Getting Ready Pt 1.

I’ve known a lot of brides over the past couple years of shooting weddings. Those pre-wedding jitters always seem to get to everyone in various ways. Not so with Jessa Duggar, she was as cool as a cucumber on a hot summer day. You would never have known she was about to step down the aisle in minutes and have her entire life changed with two words: “I Do”. I love the entire process that goes into a wedding, seeing all the brides hopes and dreams come to life. The transformation of a single young lady into a blushing bride is stunning to see. I loved every detail that Jessa choose for her big day-from her fairy tale princess gown to the ice cream sundaes for the reception.

Do You Believe In Magic | E-Session

OH.MY.GOODNESS

Those were the only words that would come out of my mouth after I took this shot. Actually it was more of squeals mixed with incomprehensible words that poured out of my frozen mouth.

How rude of me, first I should introduce you to this lovely couple that is featured! Please meet Brandon and Chelsea, a pretty incredible couple that asked me to shoot their winter engagement pictures. They were recently engaged last year at the most magical place in the world- Disney World! And not just Disney, but on the Hogwarts Express!!! When I post the rest of this shoot I will be accompanying the photos with their adorable engagement story. Their story is uniquely adorable and I really can’t wait to share it with you all!

I have been wanting to expand my skills and push myself creatively. Light writing with sparklers has been on my hit list, among other exciting things. I was SO beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to try this technique out on Brandon and Chelsea. I really couldn’t be happier with these magical results. I hope that you enjoy this image as much as I do! I can’t wait to pull more tricks out of my bag for my future shoots!!!
